Digital Love

"Digital Love" was released as the third single from Discovery in 2001, and it stands slightly apart from the rest of the album. Where tracks like "One More Time" and "Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger" run on vocoder and filter-disco grooves, "Digital Love" is built around a guitar sample - lifted from Giorgio Moroder and Paul Engemann's 1983 track "Chase" - that gives the track a warmth and directness that feels almost vulnerable by Daft Punk standards.

The song is structured like a conventional pop record in a way that much of Daft Punk's work isn't, with a clear verse-chorus shape and an emotional arc about unrequited feeling. It made it one of the most accessible tracks on Discovery and one of the most enduring in terms of streaming and radio longevity.

It was not a regular feature of the Alive 2007 tour set, which leaned harder on the more mechanical, looping tracks from Human After All. Fans often cite this as one of the great omissions from an otherwise comprehensive live setlist.
