Something About Us
"Something About Us" is the quietest track on Discovery and one of the most unusual in the Daft Punk catalogue. It is essentially a slow jam - a vocoded declaration of feeling over a soft, almost R&B groove - and it works partly because nothing else in their discography sounds quite like it.
It was never released as a single and received relatively little attention on first release, but in the years since it has become one of the most-loved tracks in the catalogue, cited frequently in fan discussions as a hidden favourite. Its placement in Interstella 5555, during a quiet, romantic interlude in the film, helped cement its emotional resonance for an entire generation who encountered the album through the accompanying animation.
It was not performed live during Alive 2007, which skewed heavily toward the harder, more structural material from Human After All. Like "Digital Love," it represents a gentler side of Daft Punk's work that the tour's format didn't have much room for.
