Random Access Memories: Release Date, Revisited
Random Access Memories was released on May 17, 2013 (May 21 in North America), Daft Punk's first studio album in eight years and their first since 2005's Human After All. The rollout was notable for its analogue, session-musician-driven sound - a deliberate contrast to the duo's earlier sample-heavy work - featuring collaborators including Pharrell Williams, Nile Rodgers, Julian Casablancas, and Paul Williams.
It would go on to win Album of the Year at the 2014 Grammy Awards, a career-capping achievement that arrived with no tour to follow it.
More on the era in our piece on why there was no 2013 tour.
