Why There Was No 2013 Tour
Random Access Memories launched in May 2013 to outsized commercial and critical success, eventually winning the Grammy for Album of the Year. Naturally, this site spent much of that year fielding the obvious question: when's the tour?
It never came. Daft Punk made the considered choice to promote the album entirely through media appearances, music videos, and a handful of listening events rather than a live run - a continuation of the scarcity that had defined their approach to touring since the start.
In hindsight, it's clear this wasn't a delay but a final decision: Alive 2007 remains, and will now always remain, the last time Daft Punk performed live.
